Formerly a Working Men’s Social club, it was bought by the community in the mid 1990’s. Prior to that they had used two local houses that had been converted into a mosque, but they had out-grown them. As well as the five daily prayers, they have two different Jummah prayers on a Friday, one with the sermon in Urdu and one with it in English. There is a madrassa for children that meets every day and about 250 children attend. There are six Imams at the mosque, two of them focus on the Hafis class which is teaching people to recite the entire Qur’an. They have recently invested in the building by improving and re-ordering the Wudu (washing) area and toilets.
