Lozells Central Mosque has been serving the local community for over 30 years as the hub of the community. It now has a purpose-built building with the capacity to cater for over 4000 people.
The site was bought in 1984 by the management committee with the intention of constructing the first purpose-built mosque in Lozells. Development of the mosque began in May 1999, reaching completion in 2010.
The construction of the mosque cost over £2.5million which has been donated by the local community in and around Lozells. In 2015 Phase 2 Expansion of Lozells Central Mosque started, building an education centre for over 700 students which reached completion in 2018.
From 2018, Lozells Central Mosque acquired numerous properties around the Mosque including 219-221 Lozells Rd, in order to begin the biggest expansion thus far. The Phase 3 Expansion is now underway to provide new areas for women and young people.
In the summer the mosque runs an extensive youth programme for over 400 young people.
